Alonzo Whaley is coming off the best game of his career, yet it's possible he won't be in No. 21 Nebraska's starting lineup for Saturday's game at No. 12 Ohio State.
Such a prospect would have sent the old Whaley into a funk. The new Whaley shrugs and says he'll be ready whenever his coach calls on him.
Coach Bo Pelini and teammates say Whaley has grown into the consummate team player.
Whaley started the first two games but was yanked from the lineup after struggling in pass coverage and missing tackles in the Sept. 8 loss at UCLA. He didn't play against Arkansas State and only a few downs against Idaho State.
Against Wisconsin last week, Whaley had a career-high eight tackles and forced a fumble.
