Nebraska's Rex Burkhead is part of the Nebraska contingent at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago. 10/11 Sports Director Kevin Sjuts caught up with him.
All 12 teams including Nebraska here Rex Burkhead, you've been here two times. This is kind of an old hat for you now.
"It's a fun experience. Coming back here talking with Will and Kyler what to expect. It is a neat experience getting a preview and a taste of the Big Ten season," Burkhead said.
Did you get to make any friends here last year?
"Yeah we did. We talked to some guys last year at the luncheon. It is a cool experience to see the coaches as well. It's really cool you get that sense that the season is getting closer," Burkhead commented.
When you come here you know fall camp is right around the corner, do you get that sense?
"It is. We got a week left. We're hitting it in stride. Looking forward to putting on the pads. I feel like we got a great team this year and have great potential. But we got to put in the work," Burkhead said.
What's the attitude of the team with it being a week away?
"It's very positive. We're looking forward to it. I think we have a great team and are capable of great things. But we have to continue to focus on the process," said Burkhead.
Heading into your senior year coming off a great junior campaign. What can you work on and how much leadership are you taking on with this squad?
"I'm working on every part of my game. Focus on the little things. Watch film being able to play faster. I feel like we could have a great team and hopefully I can lead this team and get us into the Big Ten Championship," Burkhead commented
