What the Hastings College Department of Theatre hopes will grow into a full-fledged summer stock company at the college will sponsor its first production, “Little Shop of Horrors,” June 13-16, 2013.
Summerstage, as the company will be known, will hold its performances at the college’s Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Ave.)
The public auditions for Summerstage 2013’s musical will be Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in Scott Studio Theatre. Each person who auditions will be expected to sing a verse from a song. An accompanist will be provided.
Jim Fritzler, Chair of the Hastings College Theatre Arts Department, looks forward to building Summerstage into a tradition which benefits the community and Hastings College students.
“There are very few theatre apprenticeship or intern experiences in Central Nebraska,” said Fritzler. “Our students need the opportunity to experience summer stock theatre for their professional growth. Also, we want to work more with artists in the community which is not possible during the school year.”
