The Lincoln Organ Showcase presents David Cherwien in concert Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 2225 Washington Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Regular ticket prices are $15, seniors are $10, and all students are free.
David Cherwien is a renowned church organist, conductor, composer and improvisor who brings creativity to hymns of various traditions and styles. He has won national acclaim as a leader of congregational song with inspired hymn festivals. He is currently serving as Cantor at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN, and is Music Director for the National Lutheran Choir. Come and be thrilled by his innovative merging of organ, piano, instruments and voices.
Assisting Dr. Cherwien will be the the choirs of Grace Lutheran Church joined by members of the Lincoln Lutheran Choir and the Choir of First Christian Church. Instrumentalists will include violin and flute.
Lincoln Organ Showcase is a standing committee of the Lincoln Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Its mission is to promote appreciation and enjoyment of the organ and its literature. To that end, LOS co-sponsors concerts featuring the organ in Lincoln churches and institutions of higher education. The series also offers support for organ recitals within church-sponsored series and strives to offer educational opportunities for young piano and organ students.
