The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra is announcing a change to its 2012-2013 concert season. Our final concert of the season will now be "Just-in Time," featuring guest artist Justin Kisor, trumpet. "Just-in Time" will be held Tuesday, April 23 at the Cornhusker Hotel, 333 South 13th Street in Lincoln, Nebraska at 7:30 p.m.
The originally scheduled guest artist for the NJO's April concert, Bobby Watson, has postponed his performance with the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra. This is because of an exciting opportunity he received with a play for which he wrote the music, entitled "Kansas City Swing." The play will be premiered in February in New York City, in April in Kansas City, and performed again at Lincoln Center in Fall 2013. In addition to composing the music, Bobby will appear as a character in the play in a role written specifically for him. The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra looks forward to performing with Bobby during the next concert season. Fortunately, another wonderful guest artist was available for our final concert of this season, "just in time..."
"Just-in Time" will also feature the winner of the 2013 Young Jazz Artist Competition. The winner of this competition is selected by audition from a field of the most talented young Nebraska musicians to perform a solo with the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra.
Single admission tickets are $25 for Adults and $12.50 for Students. This concert is sponsored in part by the Dillon Foundation.
