On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz, we take a trip to Nebraska City to experience Nebraska’s only Underground Railroad Historic Site at the Mayhew Cabin, the Historic Village and the John Brown Cave. This area was a stop on the Underground Railroad 150 years ago. You can walk through the cabin and travel down the underground cave to see what it was like for those trying to escape slavery. The area is open daily May through October, Thursday through Sunday from Noon to 5PM. Additional times are available by appointment. Watch the video discover a part of Nebraska’s history.
The undead are invading Lincoln! The 2012 Lincoln Zombie Fest will hit the streets of downtown Lincoln August 24th & 25th outside Pershing Center. Join the hundreds of citizens who make themselves look like zombies and walk through the streets of Lincoln. Plus, this year will feature five walkers from the hit AMC show The Walking Dead. It’s Keep It Cool month on Star City Buzz and we’re highlighting local stores that make homemade ice cold treats for you to enjoy on a hot afternoon. Our next stop is Kelly’s Yogurt a frozen yogurt shop at 2436 North 48th Street here in Lincoln. Kelly’s has 16 flavors and over 40 toppings that vary from time to time! Try it out! It’s election year, so what better way to celebrate than with a comedy about campaigning? The Campaign stars Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis who rival each other in an election for Congressman. Galifianakis plays director of the local Tourism Center going up against long-term Congressman Cam Brady, played by Ferrell. Watch the video to see what Schmoes Know thinks about the film.

Finally, the Nebraska State Fair is almost here and we’re highlighting a Lincoln band gearing up to play at the fair. The Flow is a new band that plays jams from Grateful Dead, The Band, The Allman Brothers and many more. This jam band plays music that’ll make you dance.
