On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz, the Nebraska State Fair is in FULL swing! It kicked off last Friday and continues through Monday, September 3rd at Fonner Park in Grand Island. We take you through the traditions the state fair offers including when it started and where it has ended up. Then we tell you all about the fair’s new attractions. There’s a Wild West show, acrobatics, a sky tram, and even sea lions! And you can’t have a state fair without a ton of fried food! We’ll show you the unique choices including fried Twinkies! If you know anything about the Depression era you know about Prohibition. The Schmoes Know guys review the movie Lawless on this week’s Buzz. It stars Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, and Jason Clarke who play three brothers in the business of making moonshine during Prohibition. Director John Hillcoat brings the era to life. The Capital City became a little scary over the weekend. The 2012 Zombie Fest filled the Lincoln streets with people dressing up like the undead. We talk to make-up artists about how they make the blood and gore look real. Watch the video to see some scary people, but watch out, it’s kind of creepy!
Finally, the wait is nearly over! Husker football season starts this weekend and we tracked down a young Husker fan who enjoys the Cornhuskers so much, he wrote a rap about it. Clev Trev or Trevor Taylor is an up and coming rapper with roots in the Star City. His song Heart of the State captures the greatness of Husker football. Clev Trev’s first music video, Yesterday has over 63 thousand hits on YouTube. The young rapper will release his first album in early September.
