The Lincoln Community Playhouse’s latest production is Doubt. The play is about a Bronx school principal who takes matters into her own hands when she suspects a teacher of improper conduct with a student. The Schmoes review Oscar-nominated Zero Dark Thirty. It’s the latest movie from director Kathryn Bigelow who also directed the award-winning film The Hurt Locker. Jessica Chastain plays Maya, an agent close to the Osama Bin Laden man hunt operation. The movie follows those responsible for finding Osama Bin Laden. This week we go Behind the Mic with State Senator Bill Avery. The 103rd Legislative Session began last week as hundreds of new bills were introduced. We sat down with the Lincoln Senator to talk to him about how he got into politics and how he ended up in Nebraska. Watch the video to see what he does in his spare time.
Hypnotist Jim Wand takes the stage at UNL for the third year in a row on Friday, January 18. Wand hypnotizes members of the audience and has them perform tasks. The shows are at 7PM and 9PM. Tickets are free for students and $5 for the public. Watch the video to see what his act is all about.
Finally, are you in the need of a good laugh? Comedy Night at Duffy’s Tavern is each Monday beginning around 10PM. The show is free. It features between 10 and 20 amateur and professional comics who each perform their own stand up routine. Anyone can participate; they just need to sign up before 10PM with that evening’s host.
