What's Happening on This Week's Buzz – Nov. 21

On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz, we take a trip back in time. Well, not really. We tour the University of Nebraska State Museum at Morrill Hall. The museum is located near 14th & Vine Streets here in Lincoln. It features artifacts and fossils found in the state of Nebraska from millions of years ago. The museum is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9:30AM to 4:30PM, except on Thursday when it is open until 8PM. It is also open Sundays from 1:30PM to 4:30PM. ”Do as You Otter” and check out the latest art show at the Tugboat Gallery. It features 5 artists’ paintings of the same object to show you how each artist views the object differently. The featured artists include Ross Brockley, Ed Forde, Sandra Williams, Nolan Tredway, and Peggy Gomez. The exhibit opened November 2nd and runs through November 30th. Steve Wiltshire is a loving husband, father of three and Nebraska’s King of Kong. He holds the ninth highest Donkey Kong score in the world. It secured his chance to compete in Kong Off 2, a competition that’s not easy to enter. Watch the video to find out how he made it to this level.

It’s Bountiful Breakfast Month on Star City Buzz and for our next stop, we head to Engine House Café located at 6028 Havelock Ave./i> Owner Roger Pletcher took over the restaurant from a police officer. The café used to be a fire station. It sat vacant for years before it was turned into the café it is today. It’s been dubbed by some the best breakfast place in Lincoln. Visit Engine House Café Monday through Friday from 6AM to 8PM, Saturday from 6AM to 2PM or Sunday from 7AM to 2PM. Watch the video to see the delicious food that keeps customers coming back.

The Schmoes review the final movie in the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. The movie brings back Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. This week we go Behind the Mic of 10/11 with First News Nebraska’s Chad Silber. Chad tells us about what he loves about the business and what he does for fun outside of work. Watch the video to learn more about 10/11’s morning man.
Finally, Black Friday shopping doesn’t always include local businesses. A new event called Craftzilla hopes to change that. The three day event will feature nearly 40 vendors, live music, and food trucks for your shopping pleasure. Join the madness at the Armstrong Building at 48th and R Streets. The event runs Friday and Saturday from 7AM to 6PM and Sunday from Noon to 5PM. Watch the video for a preview of the event.
