On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz, we explore the newly renovated Lincoln Children’s Museum featuring new exhibits where kids can became a mechanic, chef, doctor, or TV host. The museum held a Grand Opening parade to celebrate last Saturday. To experience the exciting fun just head to 14th and P Streets here in Lincoln. The museum is open from 9:30AM to 5:00PM Monday through Saturday and 1PM to 5PM on Sunday. Click the link in the sidebar for admission prices. Argh! How I Became A Pirate is being put on by the Lincoln Community Playhouse located at 2500 South 56th Street. The musical is based on a popular children’s book which tells the story of a young boy whose toy pirate comes to life and takes him on an adventure. See the adventure Thursday and Friday, November 8th and 9th at 7:30PM and Saturday and Sunday, November 10th and 11th at 2PM. Click the link in the sidebar to purchase tickets. Back in 2008, 2-year-old Joshua Collingsworth drowned in his family pool. His family was devastated, but they want to make sure it doesn’t happen to any other children. Joshua’s dad wrote a book called Josh the Baby Otter which teaches kids to stay away from the water, unless they’re with a parent. The Joshua Collingsworth Memorial Foundation raises money to print these books and put them in kids’ hands. This year’s JCMF Wine, Design, Dessert, & Art Benefit is Friday, November 9th from 6-10PM at the Kuck Motorsports facility located at 2251 Humphrey Ave in Lincoln. Another local fundraiser will be hosted by the Malone Community Center located at 2032 U Street in Lincoln. Its first Holiday Celebration Fundraiser hopes to raise $3000 but organizers say they’ll be happy with any support. The event is Friday, November 9th from 5:30 until 10PM. The event will feature appetizers, a cash bar and live music. Watch the video for a preview.

It’s Bountiful Breakfast Month on Star City Buzz and for our first stop, we head to Greenfield’s Café located at 87th & HWY 2 here in Lincoln. Greenfield’s serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a completely homemade menu with delicious items like spiced pumpkin pancakes. They’re open from 7AM to 10PM Daily. Watch the video to get a glimpse of the scrumptious food Greenfield’s brings to the table.

Wreck It Ralph hit the theaters last Friday. It’s a movie about a video game villain who is tired of terrorizing and wants to become a good guy. We have been featuring various 10/11 talent in our Behind the Mic segment. This week, we introduce you to a man who works hard behind the scenes in the newsroom. Michael Bennett talks about his love for music and how that love was born. Watch the video to meet a dedicated member of the 10/11 family.

Finally, last year, UNL students decided they wanted to Take Back Game Day for the Huskers first season in the Big Ten. That’s where Ramon Diaz aka Brown entered the picture with his song Big Red Anthem. The song became a hit with nearly 275 thousand views on YouTube. He recently released This is Nebraska (Big Red Anthem 2) on iTunes with all proceeds being donated to The Teammates Program. He also released his Freshman album Academic Probation which you can purchase at The 402 in Lincoln’s Gateway Mall for just 5 dollars.
