What's Happening on This Week's Buzz – Oct. 24

On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz, the terror continues with a tour of Roca Scary Farms. This pumpkin patch is the largest in Lancaster County and it features attractions like The Psycho Path, Haunted Hayrack Ride, The Haunted Manor, and Roca Shootout. Ticket sales are from 5PM to 9:30PM on Friday & Saturday and from 5PM to 8:30PM on Sunday. The farm will stay open until each person gets through the activities. Admission is $15. If all that isn’t enough, get scared at Eagle Hollow Haunts. It takes place at Eagle Raceway with impressive haunted attractions like Journey to Luminon, The Grid, and Darklands. There are only four nights left to spook yourself silly. Dates are Friday and Saturday October 26 and 27 from 7PM to Midnight and Sunday October 28 until 10PM and from 7:30PM to 9:30PM on Halloween night. Click the link in the sidebar for more information. Even Nebraska Wesleyan is getting in the Halloween spirit with their production: Dracula: Blood Dream. Director Eric Little wrote the re-imagined story. It combines classic elements from Bram Stocker’s novel with new scenes in a 1950’s insane asylum. The play will be performed at Wesleyan’s McDonald Theatre on 51st and Huntington Avenue Thursday, Oct 25 through Sunday, Oct 28 and again on Halloween. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for seniors, and $5 for students. Watch the video as Bonney Bowman tells us all about this fang-tastic production.

It’s Decadent Dessert Month on Star City Buzz and for our last stop, we take a trip to Serendipities Cupcakes located at 2720 Dan Avenue, one block South of Superior on North 27th Street in Lincoln, Neb. Terri Urtel opened the shop just over a year ago. She features many different flavors included a fan favorite: Peanut Butter Fudge. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 8PM. Watch the video for a look at delicious cupcakes that will make you smile.

Another detective film hit the screens last week. Alex Cross is a movie based on the star of a series of books by James Patterson. Tyler Perry plays Alex Cross as he works to take down a psycho-path antagonist. Watch the video to see what the Schmoes Know think about this movie.

If you love art and want to help out a good cause, Tabitha Health Care Services’ Art of Continuum fine art auction is the place for you. The auction will be held on October 25 at 5:30PM at the Country Club of Lincoln on 3200 South 24th Street in Lincoln, Neb. The auction will benefit the Elders of Tabitha they serve each day. Finally, the Husker season continues, but what happens when you can’t make it to the game? There are plenty of other places to go including a place right on UNL’s campus. The Mary Riepma Ross Theater plays Husker home games on their big screen using their state of the art projection and sound systems. Admission is free and there are concessions available to purchase. The Ross is located at 313 North 13 Street in Lincoln, Neb. Watch the video to see why patrons call it Lincoln’s best kept secret on game day.
