On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz, we get in the spirit of Halloween to show you some real hauntings around the city of Lincoln. First we stake out Antelope Park with folks from the Nebraska Paranormal Society. Then, we head to the Capitol Building where we talk with T.R.I.P Paranormal about their spooky findings. Click the links in the sidebar to learn more about these groups. Watch the video, but don’t get too scared!

Fashion and charity come together in a design competition that’s sure to put a smile on your face. The event, Project Funway, will feature a design competition and a silent auction benefiting the Fresh Start Home. Fresh Start Home is a transition home for women coming out of homelessness located here in Lincoln. If you’d like to attend the event on Friday, November 2 at 6:30PM, you can purchase the $35 tickets by calling 402-475-7777. Watch the video to learn more about this awesome fundraiser.

Project Funway isn’t the only fundraiser helping out Lincolnites this weekend. The Fourth Annual Scrabble Scramble Fundraiser Tournament is Sunday, November 4, from 1 to 5PM at UNL’s East Campus Union Great Plains Room. The scramble is a competition between teams of 4 with contributions being donated to Lincoln Literacy. Click the link in the sidebar to register. Watch the video to see what 10/11 talent will emcee the event.

It’s Decadent Dessert Month on Star City Buzz and for our last stop, we take a trip to Stauffer’s Café and Pie Shoppe located at 5600 South 48th Street here in Lincoln. Claridy Stauffer and her son Thad opened the business in 1996. They specialize in making many delicious homemade pies just like your Grandma makes. The store is open Monday through Friday from 6AM to 8PM, Saturdays from 6AM to 2PM and is CLOSED on Sundays. Watch the video to see the yummy pies Stauffer’s has to offer.

It’s a movie about a fake movie that’s being used to help hostages escape Iran and it’s based on a true story. Ben Affleck directs and stars in Argo with great actors like John Goodman and Bryan Cranston among many others. The movie is loosely based on a declassified operation by the CIA. Watch the video to see what Schmoes Know think about this new release.

There are quite a few celebrities that come from Nebraska. One of the most famous is a comedian known for the catch phrase “Git ‘R’ Done.” Larry the Cable Guy was in town for the Husker game with former Husker and NFL player Roger Craig last weekend. Star City Buzz snagged an interview with the two Nebraska greats. Watch the video to see what these two had to say about Husker football and the road to stardom.

Finally, the six day music festival Lincoln Calling presented a lot of local bands to Lincoln. One of those was a fairly new funky rock and roll band called Fraternal Durango. The band features multiple talented musicians who vibe together creating a fresh sound that will make you swing your hips. They have only been around a few months, but already have multiple original songs and plan to record an album soon. Catch Fraternal Durango at Duffy’s Tavern on November 4th at 5PM. Click the link in the sidebar to LIKE Fraternal Durango on Facebook. Watch the video to hear the sounds of an original Lincoln band.
