On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz , we explore all of the fun at Lincoln Children’s Museum at 1420 P Street in Lincoln. The non-profit museum offers three floors of hands-on exhibits for children and adults to learn and play together. The museum is open every Monday through Saturday 9:30PM to 5PM (7:30 on Thurs.) and from 1PM to 5PM Sunday. Watch the video to see our tour of the Lincoln Children’s Museum.
We take you to Nebraska Wesleyan University for a preview of the theater program’s Short Play Festival Students enrolled in Directing II will lead the festival. The event is free and open to the public. The festival is Friday, July 27and Saturday, July 28 at 7:30PM in the Studio Theatre at 2710 North 48th Street. July is Lip Smackin' BBQ month. Our next stop takes us to Lippy’s BBQ located just outside of Lincoln in Malcom, Neb. Libby’s BBQ is locally owned and prides itself on using the best ‘tasting’ woods for their slow-smoked BBQ. Check 'em out and see why they encourage you to “Eat Naked”! Libby’s BBQ is open Thursdays from 4PM to 8PM, Fridays and Saturdays from 11AM to 8PM and Sundays from 11AM to 4PM.
For some it’s the most anticipated blockbuster of the summer, ”The Dark Knight Rises” is the final chapter in director Christopher Nolan’s Batman series. The film stars Christian Bale as Batman, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, and Tom Hardy as the evil Bane. Watch to see what Schmoes Know thinks about "The Dark Knight Rises."
Star City Buzz knows where the stars are so when we heard heartthrob Joey Lawrence would be in Kearney, our cameras and hearts followed. We caught up with the actor from 90’s TV sit-com Blossom and ABC Family’s current sit-com Melissa & Joey. Watch the video to hear what Joey told Star City Buzz about life under the spotlight of fame.
The weekend of July 28th and 29th is packed with fun events for all. There’s fun for the whole family at Prescott Elementary’s 4th Prescott Summer Festival. Bring you kids for an evening filled with live music, local artists, guitar showcases, and local food trucks. The event is from 5:30PM to 8:30PM Friday, July 27.
If you’re able to leave the kids at home head to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo’s Brews and Blues event. The zoo closes its doors to kids for a fun filled adult evening. There’s local blues music, local and homemade brews, and brats and burgers. Of course there are animals too! The event runs from 6PM to 9PM on Saturday, July 28. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event.
Finally, the summer event everyone has been waiting for, Pinewood Bowl’s Summer Concert Series. The series kicks off Saturday, July 28 with Counting Crows. Watch the video to see a preview of these three events.
