On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz, we roll down to The National Museum of Rollerskating located at 4730 South Street (47th & South Street) here in Lincoln. The museum collects and displays the history of roller skating. They have an evolution of skates and outfits, plus much more. Check out the video to see what the hype is about. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
Keeping on with our roller skating theme, we skated to the Pershing Center to get the low down on the No Coast Derby Girls. These girls are tough and they know how to skate. They compete various times throughout the derby season. We spoke with the girls about life and skating, watch the video to see what these ladies are all about.
Parks and plays are great, but put them together and you get something even better. The Flatwater Shakespeare Company brings Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, or What you Will to a garden near you. The opening will be Thursday, June 14th at 7:00PM at the Lincoln Community Foundation Garden in downtown Lincoln ("N" Street near Centennial Mall) Admission is free, but donations are welcome. June is Burger Mania on Star City Buzz and our second stop is Fred and Ruby's located at Parkway Lanes at 2555 South 48th Street in Lincoln. Fred serves up many burgers, the fan favorite being the Patty Melt. Check out the video to see why some call Fred and Ruby's the best burger in Lincoln.
A loose prequel to the Alien movie series, Prometheus starring Noomi Rapaze, Michael Fassbender, and Charlize Theron leaves a group of explorers to save the human race when they find a clue to the origins of mankind. Finally, June wouldn't be complete without Jazz in June.
The event is FREE to the public and occurs every Tuesday at 7:00PM in June. Each week a different Jazz group or artist plays a free concert.
