Deborah moved to Lincoln in November 2010, but says the Capital City quickly became her second home.
Originally from Atlanta, GA, she misses the warm weather and her mom’s sweet potato pie, but enjoys the warm people of Nebraska!
Deborah is the host of Star City Buzz, a weekly half-hour show geared towards highlighting the latest concerts and productions, greatest art exhibits and best movie reviews. The show debuts April 4th and you can watch it every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on MyTV. She also produces the Star City Buzz features on 10/11 News during First News Nebraska (5-7am) and First at Four (4-4:30pm.)
She says this is the coolest gig ever!
“I’m thankful for the opportunity 10/11 has given me. I’m a huge fan of the art and entertainment scene – and to find a team who is willing to hone in on that, is a one in a million chance,” Deborah said.
An award-winning journalist, Deb has worked in Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina and Georgia.
In her spare time, she likes to read, write (still working on that novel), eat anything in hands-reach (then exercise), take in a movie or play and spend time with her church family and friends.
Deborah is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and donates her time to community activities.
On one last note, Deborah would like to dedicate Star City Buzz to her late brother, Marcus. Marc encouraged her to go for her dreams and everyday told her how proud he was, that she would get to host her own show.
