Rowena Li joined the 10/11 Central Nebraska News team in August 2012 as a video journalist in Grand Island. A Midwestern transplant, she’s excited to explore Central Nebraska and is thrilled to be telling the stories that matter the most to Nebraskans.
Rowena grew up along the coasts of California and Florida, but attended college at Northwestern University just north of Chicago, where she earned her bachelor’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism. While still in school, Rowena got her start reporting on-air for the NBC affiliate in Billings, Montana. She also field produced for Chicago’s WGN.
Rowena spent a good portion of the past year in southern France and northern China, and while both experiences were enjoyable, she’s glad to be back in the U.S. of A! And what better place to be than in America’s Heartland?
Rowena may be from another Big Ten school, but she can certainly be persuaded to become an avid Huskers fan – she’s hoping to attend a game soon! When she’s not out telling the stories of Nebraskans, Rowena enjoys working out, ballroom dancing, singing very off-key to country music, and spoiling the Grand Island newsroom with baked goods.
Rowena is a huge social media nut and is constantly connected, so feel free to tweet her @Rowena_Li. You can also share story ideas, comments, or anything interesting with her at email@example.com. In-person greetings are always welcome as well!
