Sara Geake has worn many hats for 10/11. Her latest - anchoring 10/11 Central Nebraska News at 5:30 & 9 p.m. weekdays. Reporting from the Grand Island newsroom since June 2006, she's now thrilled to bring Central Nebraskans the news, weather, and sports they care about.
While at 10/11, she's covered everything from murder investigations and the ice storm that left thousands of Nebraskans without power, to presidential visits and the Nebraska State Fair's move to G.I. She's covered a lot of miles too, reporting from Nebraska's North, South, and West borders, and many places in between. Sara's favorite part of the job is talking with new people and learning something different every day.
Sara's roots lie just across the Missouri River in northwest Iowa, where she grew up on a farm. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2006, while producing weekend shows for KGAN in Cedar Rapids. Although Sara has lived in the Midwest all her life, she still can't seem to get excited about winter weather news coverage.
In her spare time, Sara likes to be outdoors, walk her dog Jack (or chase him down the street), see movies, listen to music, and spend time with her husband. She also likes to cheer on her favorite football team - the Iowa Hawkeyes, and is looking forward to playing the Huskers.
