Erika Tallan co-anchors First News Nebraska. Erika joined the 10/11 News Team as a reporter for the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. shows in December 2008. She also produced on the weekends. In the winter of 2010 she became the weekend morning anchor. Erika received a 2010 Nebraska Broadcasters Association Award of Excellence for her agricultural reporting. Erika hails from Scottsdale, Arizona. She earned her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. Erika's career began while attending ASU. She held a 12 month internship at KNXV-TV in Phoenix, Arizona. Erika reported and anchored for Cronkite NewsWatch which was recognized as the top collegiate news team in the country. She received national recognition as a top collegiate reporter for her work, winning 1st place in breaking news from the Society of Professional Journalists and 3rd place in feature reporting from the Broadcast Educator's Association. Erika also appeared on MSNBC and co-hosted a PBS special. Since her move to the Cornhusker State, Erika has hopped on the Husker bandwagon! For the past two football seasons, Erika has made it to every home game, not to watch them but to talk to fans and report their excitement on 10/11 News. Erika is the queen of cuisine! Cooking is one of her new found loves and her critics (friends mostly) say she's pretty good at it. Her secret: is a good, easy to follow recipe!
