Chad Silber co-anchors First News Nebraska Monday-Friday 5-7am with Melanie Bloom and Brad Anderson. Waking people up is how Chad says he likes to spend his morning. "Melanie is my caffeine, so I can be yours!"
Chad joined 10/11 News in August 2009 as a Video Journalist and was promoted to Special Reports Reporter in February 2010. In September, Chad was promoted to morning anchor.
If there was a competition to see who would jump on the Husker bandwagon the quickest, Chad would be the ultimate champion. Shortly after he moved to Lincoln, he learned what it was like to be a true Husker fan. "It's hard not to fall in love with a team and its fans after covering their stories almost everyday," says Silber. "Husker nation is unlike anything I've ever seen."
Chad is a self-proclaimed "newsie" who can never get enough news. Whether it be on his phone, TV or laptop, he's always looking for the next breaking news story. His need for telling people the day's current events is what motivated him to take his passion to the Plains.
He also enjoys speaking to students in local classrooms and sharing his love for journalism with anyone who will listen!
Chad reigns from Eagle River, Wisconsin and is a graduate of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcasting and a minor in Political Science. His first career move took him back to his home area as an anchor for the NBC affiliate in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
He's always looking for new places to eat and/or visit. "Please help me enjoy all that Nebraska has to offer!"
