Taryn Vanderford joined the KOLN/KGIN staff in February of 2010 to co-anchor the 10/11 morning show with her husband. After seven successful months on the show, Taryn and Jon were excited to launch the brand new First at Four newscast. The news of the day is delivered on a more relaxed set with a comfy sofa and cool bar stools. This is a welcoming mix of the day's top stories, interviews that matter to you, and fun features.

Taryn also hosts House Works, a segment that airs twice a week on First at Four and focuses on interior design, gardening, cooking and overall home improvement. Jon does a nice job as the House Works videographer and editor. You can also see Taryn's House Works stories on MomsEveryday.com. On this site devoted to everything mom and kid related, Taryn keeps a blog and publishes content. Many of Taryn's "home" contributors are designers who once appeared on HGTV and now publish content for national magazines.

Speaking of HGTV, when Taryn and Jon lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, Taryn worked as a producer, writer and researcher for the following national shows: A&E's "America's Castles", HGTV's "Country at Home", "Country Style" and "Restore America", and the DIY Network's "Weekend Decorating" and "DIY Basics." Taryn and her team were pleased to win a Telly Award for their work on the HGTV show "Country Style." She also worked with Dan Rather and Dolly Parton on a national parks show shot in the Great Smoky Mountains. Another highlight for Taryn included field producing a segment with her family for the TV special "Thanksgiving Across America" on the Food Network. While in Knoxville, Taryn was a part-time announcer at country radio stations WIVK (a frequent CMA station of the year winner) and WOKI.

Taryn was raised on a farm near Pender, Nebraska. From kindergarten through eighth grade, Taryn attended a country school with a total of six in her class! From these humble beginnings, Taryn went on to graduate with highest distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism. In college, Taryn played saxophone in the Cornhusker Marching Band. This is also where she met Jon.

Taryn began her journalism career as a mid-day and evening announcer on the top-rated Lincoln radio station, 96KX. At this time, the Nebraska Lieutenant Governor, Kim Robak, named Taryn an admiral in the Nebraska navy.

During her career, Taryn served as an adjunct journalism professor at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She was an on-air host for Nebraska educational tourism videos. And she used her design experience to host “Design Time” on radio station 1240 AM KFOR in Lincoln.

Taryn loves being a mom to her two young kids, Jacob and Olivia. When the Vanderford family isn't busy with activities or traveling, you'll probably find Taryn taking pictures, watching college football, decorating, playing the piano for church and Jazzercising.
