Brandon Rector joined the 10/11 weather team in March 2008 as the weekend evening meteorologist. Now you can watch him on First at Four, 10/11 News at 5, and 10/11 Central Nebraska News at 5:30 p.m.
Before 10/11, he worked at KRBC in Abilene, TX for four and a half years. Brandon began as the weekend meteorologist there, but also spent time as the morning and chief meteorologist. While in the southern end of tornado alley, he forecast and reported about severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, flooding, and the occasional snowstorm.
Brandon enjoys forecasting the different types of weather conditions that Nebraska offers throughout the year. One of his most memorable days was a Saturday in late April of 2009. There were blizzard warnings in the northwest part of the viewing area and tornado warnings in the southeast.
Brandon grew up in North Carolina and has been in love with the weather since he was about four years old. He received his degree in meteorology from North Carolina State University. Brandon is a member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association. He has earned the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal.
When he's not forecasting the weather, he enjoys watching movies, college basketball and football, baseball, hockey and racing (NASCAR and IndyCar). Since moving to the Cornhusker State, he has been able to attend his first Nebraska home football game at Memorial Stadium as well as the last College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium and the first at TD Ameritrade Park. He looks forward to seeing more Nebraska home games and College World Series games in the future.
