TOWN HALL WITH SENATOR BOB KRIST

Event Dates and Times

9/19/2017 - Starts: 6:00 PM
SW High School, 7001 S. 14th Street, Lincoln NE
The Nebraska Faith Community & Members of the The Nebraska Independent-Serving Providers; along with Organizations serving those with Mental & Developmental Health Issues, are hosting a Town Hall with Senator Bob Krist regarding the 3% cuts to those Providers of Medicaid, Child Welfare, Behavioral Health, & Developmental Disabilities. Senator Krist will answer questions about what can be done before September Review of Agency Regulations for DHHS; including allocating the funds back to these Providers and removing the newly proposed Department of EVV, (as of Aug. 22), which will, instead, Regulate those Providers. Senator Krist will also respond to our comments on how the 1.4 Million should be used to continue to take care of Persons with Disabilities as was suggested in 2016 by our Legislature to expand Medicaid, instead of using that money to Illegally Regulate these Providers and take away necessary funding.

Brian Haggard’s Crazy quilt-inspired artwork incorporates rich fabrics, an extensive vocabulary of stitches, and trim mined from antique stores. Borrowing embroidery techniques and designs from early 18th century samplers and late 19th century quilts, Haggard’s whimsical, hand-made pieces often elicit the question, “Is it old or new?” As a boy, Haggard discovered needlework as a creative outlet when his parents gave him a sewing machine. Today, he works as an interior designer in Indianapolis, writes about needlework, designs fabric, and teaches classes in the United States and abroad, Haggard hopes to inspire others to find their creative wellspring.

Scott Anderson, Trombone: Half the World Away

Event Dates and Times

9/19/2017 - Starts: 7:30 PM
Kimball Recital Hall, 1113 R Street, Lincoln, NE
Scott Anderson and Michael Cotton will present a recital of music for trombone and piano on September 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. This program will feature a first half consisting of little-known works from the Paris Conservatory Competition repertory. These pieces have been staples of the French Repertoire butare rarely performed in the United States anymore. The second half is planted firmly in the 20th and 21st centuries. The most compelling of the works is a relatively new piece by composer Jacob Ter Veldhuis (aka JacobTV) titled “I was like Wow”. The piece takes on the topic of war in a multimedia presentation including video, audio and trombone. The final piece on the recital is Anderson’s arrangement of an Oasis song for alto trombone and three trombone accompaniment.

Free and open to the public.
