Much quieter weather is on tap for the rest of the week...with a nice little warming trend expected.
Seventy crews are on roads putting down salt that's pre-wet with brine. Crews will have a shift change Monday evening, but will continue working overnight to prepare for Lincoln's morning commute.
On Monday evening police responded to 69 accidents in Lincoln alone. One of the accidents involved a semi and took out a power line and stop light. But also left a woman in critical condition.
Light snow will be ending Monday evening...but blowing snow will continue through midnight and beyond. Much quieter weather is anticipated for the rest of the week...with a nice warming trend developing.
The snow is covering the ground is Lincoln, and schools and businesses are closed across the city today. The problem is when schools close parents have a hard time finding a place to take their kids for the day while they work.
Governor Pete Ricketts and Nebraska Emergency Management officials are urging Nebraskans to use caution during blizzard conditions.
