Government forecasters say the upper Midwest, parts of the Great Lakes area and the Northeast are facing a threat of spring flooding.

The National Weather Service says the greatest risk is along the Red River of the North on the North Dakota-Minnesota border.

In addition, flooding threatens much of northern Minnesota, central North Dakota and northern South Dakota.

A region of potential spring flooding extends across northern Illinois, Indiana and Ohio and the southern two-thirds of Michigan.
