It has felt like spring in Nebraska since last weekend, but the season officially began Friday morning at 6:44 a.m. CDT.
Something else that we see quite a bit of during the spring season is thunderstorms. It looks like we will have several chances for thunderstorms this weekend and early next week. An upper level trough will move slowly across the western part of the country into the central plains during that time period. A warm front should move across the state on Sunday and then a cold front on Monday. Combine that with ample moisture from the Gulf of Mexico moving into the region and all of the ingredients look to be in place for periodic showers and thunderstorms Saturday through Tuesday. Some of the storms we see on Monday and Tuesday could be strong to severe.
