Officials say a wildfire that is burning for a third day near the South Carolina coast has caused more than $8 million in damage.
County officials on Friday released an early estimate of nearly $8.3 million from the wildfire that has burned 31 square miles near one of the state's busiest tourist areas.
Flames have destroyed 70 homes and damaged about 100. No injuries have been reported.
Some of the more than 2,000 people evacuated because of the fire were being allowed to return to their homes, or what remains of them.
