Even though tropical storm watches are no longer in effect for the North Carolina coast, officials are warning of potentially dangerous conditions in the ocean.

The Coast Guard has stopped searching for a 12-year-old boy who disappeared Friday along the northern Outer Banks, an apparent victim of a strong undertow.

Forecasters say rough surf could be a concern all along the Eastern Seaboard, even though Danny has weakened from a tropical storm to a depression.

Beaches in five Massachusetts communities have been closed until further notice, and public ferry service was canceled in and around Boston.

Heavy rains associated with Danny caused some minor flooding in New Jersey.
