Scotts Bluff County officials say at least three inches of snow has already fallen from a major snowstorm that has socked in airports and hampered travelers in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska.
Several schools in Nebraska's Panhandle closed in anticipation of the storm Wednesday.
Great Lakes Aviation canceled a late-morning flight from and to Denver.
The National Weather Service says more than a foot of snow from the slow-moving storm is expected over the Panhandle, with less snow falling to the east.
A winter storm warning has been posted.
