Most of Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa has had snow on the ground for just about 2 months, including several weeks with snow depths over a foot.

The record lengths for snow depths on the ground at several thresholds are in the charts below. Note that Omaha has had its longest duration on record of snow deeper than 6”, 9”, and 12” on the ground in the winter of 2009-10!

The record of any snow on the ground (1” or more) stands at 74 days, and Omaha will break that record if there is at least 1” of snow on the ground on February 19, 2010. Lincoln would break its 1” snow depth record on March 9, 2010, and Norfolk would have to wait all the way until April 8!
