The eighth tropical depression of the Atlantic hurricane season has formed, but forecasters say it is no threat to land.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Wednesday the depression had formed about 595 miles east of Bermuda with winds of 35 mph. The depression is moving north and is expected to turn toward the northeast Thursday.

The depression could become a tropical storm later Wednesday or on Thursday.
