What was once a category one hurricane, Isaac has made landfall in Louisiana and has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm. But just barely. Winds are still sustained at 70 mph, which is just 5 mph below hurricane requirements.
Storm surge and heavy rain continue to be major issues in southern Louisiana and Mississippi. Severe weather, including severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are also plaguing the area. This storm is a slow mover so flooding and severe weather is likely to continue for the next 24 hours or more.
