The Emergency Department at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk sustained major water and hail damage during the severe weather that hit Saturday.
The clean up is massive. Rain, mud and hail came pouring in like a tsunami when a door to an outside stairwell buckled. The hospital's disaster plan was put in action. Patients were moved and a temporary emergency room set up. No one was hurt in the process. It's a case where practice paid off.
The emergency department will have to work out of a lobby and the intensive care unit for at least a week.
