Just a few weeks ago we had record highs, and now folks are bracing themselves for sub-zero temperatures.
If you're lucky, you won't have to spend much time outdoors tonight and tomorrow night.
If you have to head outside, meteorologist Brandon Rector urges you to keep the wind chill factor in mind.
Rector describes wind chill as "basically what it's going to feel like on your exposed skin. What is happening is that you get these winds that are blowing the heat away from your body. That's why we tell you to bundle up wear gloves, wear a hat because 40% of our body heat actually escapes through our head so you want to try to keep the heat in your body.
Rector adds that "If you keep your skin exposed to these wind chills over a period of time you can get frostbite or hypothermia, it just depends on the strength of the wind. "
Rector recommends dressing in layers and minimizing exposed skin because frostbite and hypothermia do happen.
