Mozambique's chief disaster management official says 32 people have died in recent storms and flooding.

Joao Ribeiro, director of the National Disasters Management
Institute, gave the toll to reporters in Maputo Tuesday. He also
says thousands remained stranded by high waters across southern and central Mozambique.

Two tropical depressions that have hit since mid-January have
brought heavy rains and high winds. Some victims have drowned, and
others have been electrocuted by downed power lines.
