A late winter storm has swept into New England, dumping a mix of snow and rain that has some coastline communities preparing for heavy street flooding and evacuations.
The storm buried parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions with snow, then moved into New England on Thursday with high winds, snow and rain.
Emergency management officials are worried about getting through two more high tides before the storm was expected to end Friday.
In the seacoast town of Scituate, Massachusetts, about a dozen streets are closed after Thursday morning's high tide sent 2 to 2 1/2 feet of water washing into some areas.
