"Snow Corners" Cause Concern for Some Drivers

The snow isn't a problem on the streets anymore. The City of Lincoln canceled it's parking ban for residential parking districts Tuesday night.

However, some drivers say now that it's off the street, the sometimes massive snow piles make it hard to see.

They're called "snow corners." They create a corner for drivers that wouldn't normally exist except in winter.

If you're in a high sitting vehicle you can see over them no problem.
But in a lower sitting vehicle, pulling out of driveways or parking lots the "snow corners" can be difficult to see around.

Drivers in Lincoln say that can be dangerous.

John Tinius tells 10/11, "I have a little bit, from time to time around the city, just with the winter and getting so much snow, I don't know if the plows aren't really used to it, but they kind of create a hazard."

Tim Butler says, "I was coming out of an appointment and I had to really really be careful at this open intersection, there were no stop signs and I just really, really crept up to it, because there was no way I could see if there was a car coming."

Both drivers say their advice is to just inch forward until you can see and don't go too fast, because that can make it even worse.

Other drivers is spoke with say, the "snow corners" aren't that big of a deal they're just part of winter. While even more say, they haven't really seen any this winter.

Despite those who have countered these piles of snow, Lincoln Police say in the last 48 hours they haven't had any accident reports caused by "snow corners."

LPD says it looks like drivers being cautious with the decreased visibility and they hope it stays that way.

Yeah they should have left it in the street because it's much safer there! Man, you can't make anybody happy these days

I almost got my front end taken off yesterday because I couldn't see around a snow corner luckily I hit the brakes quick enough. They are very dangerous.
