University of Nebraska officials are looking to avoid heat-related problems that left hundreds of people at Saturday's first home football game of the season in need of medical attention.
More than 300 people sought help for heat-related problems at the game, including 30 to 40 members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln marching band. Triage areas were set up and more medical personnel called in for what university officials declared an emergency.
Butch Hug, the university's associate athletic director for facilities and events, says UNL officials are meeting with Lincoln police, fire and medical officials to try to determine ways to better handle -- or avoid -- such emergencies.
The National Weather Service says the high temperature in Lincoln on Saturday was 95 degrees.
