Lincoln Public Schools announces there will be no school tomorrow - Thursday, Dec. 20 - due to the inclement weather conditions with expected considerable snow accumulation through the evening hours.
The timing of the storm really threw a wrench into Lincoln Public Schools' finals week.
The halls are empty now, and will stay that way Thursday. The snow storm made things too dangerous.
Lincoln Superintendent, Steve Joel, holds the final decision on whether or not to cancel classes. It's a decision the district doesn't make lightly. Joel talked with his executive team throughout the day and into the night. Officials monitored weather reports and street conditions.
Ultimately the decision was based on safety.
"It's a major snag this year. The storm hits during finals. LPS allowed individual schools to rearrange their plan and each set up back-ups for the tests scheduled for Thursday," said Dr. Pat Hunter-Pirtle of LPS.
