Wednesday night, there were numerous accidents around Lincoln and Lancaster county.

The freezing rain made city streets and the interstate so slick cars are sliding off the road and wrecking.

Lincoln police asked people not to travel Wednesday night. That included driving in the city and on the interstate.

Lincoln police say most of 84th street was closed because of the icy streets. Hills were so slick cars slid down them.

To those that think the roads where not being done can shut your trap. The crews where out getting paid overtime but not all roads can be done at once. To those again I'm sure your the same ones that think the city should not have there crews getting paid overtime and cutting into tax dollars. I'm sure that you are the same people complaining about lincoln fire getting called in and pd OT on the romantic building this weekend. Drive safe and worry about yourselves for once.

I don't think people fully understood what I was saying. 1st of all I don't work for the city or the state, but i do work at a place that requires me to be on call, and my family understands that, and I was not complaining about my job. I just have a problem with the people that are so quick to blame others for their short comings. The roads were not that bad if people knew how to drive, all people had to do was slow down and take their time, but nobody in Lincoln likes to take their time. Everybody is in a fury to get to where they need to go. So slow down, take your time, and be courteous of others. I apologize if I offended anybody, but lets use some common sense next time.

Maintenance - When you work for the city, you need to keep the "city" safe!! Be thankful you have a job...Don't complain about your hours & missing family time, plenty of people in all sorts of jobs that loose family time. It's life!!

If you don't like your job spreading salt, then go get a different job! We don't need slackers like you working for the city or state (with OUR tax dollars)! The forecast was out there. Why were the road crews not out? Maybe the mayor has an answer for us? The clueless bum!

Dear anonymous obviously you don't work for the road crews. I wonder if you would like getting called out at all hours of the night, and getting pulled away from your family to go spread salt. The blame shouldn't be on the road crews it should be on the people that do not know how to drive in these conditions. people just need to have some common sense.

It wasn't that bad last night, people just need to learn how to drive on this and slow down, but not go 15mph on the highway, that causes accidents too.

Telling people not to drive... and yet school has not been closed. Guess people will HAVE to drive. Good luck out there!

Isn't strange that the police don't want us driving but there is school so obviously we are gonna have to drive! I think that when the weather is causing safety concerns that perhaps LPS and Lincoln Police should make the decision together when schools are closed! Because learning is important but as a mom safety is also a priority!!!
