Forecast for Central and Eastern Nebraska

***WINTER STORM WARNINGS and WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES are in place until Sunday evening***

A wet, sloppy mess developed Saturday as surface temperatures hovered around the freezing mark. As the temperatures continue to fall, you can expect precipitation the change over to all snow tonight. By Sunday afternoon, 6 or more inches of snow accumulation is possible in eastern Nebraska and around 4" to 6" in central Nebraska. As temperatures plummet Sunday, road conditions will worsen as the slush turns into ice.

Snow will taper off by Sunday afternoon with strong winds becoming the talking point. Strong winds and cold temperatures will make it a blustery day. Temperatures will be on a steady decline the entire day Sunday, so be prepared for the cold Sunday and Monday morning

A brief warm up is expected on Tuesday with colder temperatures returning on Wednesday and Thursday.

TONIGHT: Cloudy with widespread snow showers. Blowing snow possible overnight. Snow accumulation of 3" to 4" possible. Lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. North winds at 15 to 25 mph.

SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy, blustery and colder. A 70% chance of lingering snow into the the afternoon. Temperatures falling into the teens by the evening. Northwest winds at 25 to 25 with gusts up to 40mph.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, breezy, and much colder. Lows in the single digits. Northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph. Wind chills at -5 to -10.
