Forecast for Central and Eastern Nebraska

TUESDAY, MAY 21, 2013

The slow-moving weather system responsible for most of the severe weather the past few days will continue to drift slowly to the east. This system will continue to tap cooler Canadian air and drag it into Nebraska and Northern Kansas. Breezy and unseasonably cool weather is in your forecast through Wednesday...with a small chance for some rainy periods. Temperatures will try to rebound a bit by Thursday...but by the time Friday arrives the next slow-moving storm system approaches form the west. Readings will warm late this week and into the holiday weekend...but as temperatures rise so will our thunderstorm chances for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. At this early stage...it certainly appears possible that some strong-to-severe thunderstorms will be possible at times...stay up-to-date with the latest forecasts as the week goes along...especially if you have travel plans for Memorial Day weekend.

8:00 AM: Partly sunny. Temperature 54 to 56. West Wind at 10 to 20 mph.

NOON: Partly sunny. Temperature, 64 to 65. West wind at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

3:00 PM: Partly sunny with a 20% chance of showers, temperature, 66 to 68. West wind at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

6:00 PM: Partly sunny with a 20% chance of showers. Temperature, 66 to 68. West-northwest wind at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

9:00 PM: Partly cloudy. Temperature, 59 to 61. Northwest wind at 10 to 15 mph.

TODAY: Mostly cloudy and continued unseasonably cool with a 30% chance of showers. Highs in the upper 50s to upper 60s. West-northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph...gusts to 30 or 35 mph.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and continued cool. Lows in the mid 40s to near 50. Northwest winds of 8 to 18 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy and seasonably cool. A 20% chance for showers mainly over Northern and Northeastern Nebraska. Highs in the mid 60s to low 70s.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs in the low to mid 70s.
