A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for southwest Nebraska and western Kansas until 11pm CDT.
Storms are going to be forming tonight and some of them could be strong to severe, especially in southwestern Nebraska. This is the beginning of a very active pattern that is going set the stage for strong to severe storms on and off throughout the entire Memorial weekend.
We are not expecting storms the entire weekend, but rounds of storms will rumble through, we'll be quiet for a while, then more storms, then quiet, all the way through Monday. Some of these storms could be strong to severe so if you have outdoor plans, always be ready.
Temperatures are going to be a little warmer than average with highs in the lower and middle 80s and lows near 60 degrees.
TONIGHT: A chance for showers and thunderstorms...some may be strong to severe. Lows in the mid 50s to low 60s. Southeast winds of 10 to 20 mph...gusts to 30 mph possible.
SATURDAY: More strong to severe storm chances, otherwise partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s. South winds of 15 to 30 mph.
SUNDAY: Strong to severe storms remain in the forecast with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s.
