Forecast for Central and Eastern Nebraska

MONDAY, MAY 20, 2013

A large and slow-moving upper-level area of low pressure will continue to work its way east over the next few days...giving much of Nebraska and Northern Kansas a chance for periodic showers and isolated thunderstorms. This same storm system was responsible for several severe weather outbreaks in the Plains over this past weekend...and while widespread severe weather is not expected in our area for he next few days...isolated strong-to-severe 'storms cannot be completely ruled out at times as this system meanders east. Another strong low pressure area looks to be heading our way...just in time for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend. This weather-maker is still several days away and forecasts may change...but be sure to check in with the 10-11 Weather Team as the week wears on.

DAY PLANNER:

8:00 AM: Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperature, 59 to 61. Southwest wind at 5 to 15 mph.

NOON: Partly sunny with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperature, 72 to 74. Southwest wind at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

3:00 PM: Partly sunny with a 30% chance of showers or thunderstorms. Temperature, 75 to 77. Southwest wind at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

6:00 PM: Partly sunny with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperature, 75 to 77. Southwest wind at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

9:00 PM: Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Temperature, 67 to 69. Southwest wind at 10 to 20 mph.

TODAY: Partly to mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms...a few isolated strong 'storms will be possible in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s to upper 70s. West-southwest winds at 10 to 20 mph...with gusts to 30 or 35 mph possible.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the low 50s. Southwest winds at 5 to 15 mph.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy and continued rather cool with a 30% chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 60s to lower 70s. West to northwest winds at 5 to 15 mph.

WEDNESDAY:Partly sunny. Highs upper 60s to mid 70s.
