Forecast for Central and Eastern Nebraska

TUESDAY, MAY 21, 2013

One more day of cool, cloudy and breezy conditions expected for most of 10-11 Country on Wednesday. The lethargic upper-level low responsible for our cool conditions will continue to drift east over the next 24 hours...finally exiting our area by Wednesday night. Look for highs on Wednesday to struggle into the low to mid 60s once again...with some areas stuck in the upper 50s in the afternoon...the average high right now is about 75 degrees. Thursday looks to be a more pleasant day...with some sunshine and readings warming into the upper 60s to mid 70s. Shower and thunderstorm chances will increase by Friday afternoon and continue off-and-on through the Memorial Day holiday weekend. We are not expecting a complete washout during the period...but thunderstorm episodes are likely...and as always this time of year...some strong-to-severe 'storms will be possible. Please check the forecasts as the weekend draws closer.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy and continued cool...with scattered showers possible at times...most likely across northern and northeastern Nebraska. Lows in the low 40s to near 50. Northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph early...diminishing to 10 to 15 mph later.

WEDNESDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy and still cool...with a 20% chance for showers...again most likely over northern and northeastern Nebraska. Highs in the upper 50s to upper 60s. North-northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph...gusts to 25 or 30 mph possible at times.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Becoming partly cloudy with diminishing winds...and still seasonably chilly. Lows in the mid to upper 40s. North winds of 5 to 15 mph.

THURSDAY: Partly to mostly sunny and a little warmer. Highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Easterly winds of 5 to 15 mph...becoming southeasterly and increasing to 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
