Zoo Lights canceled through Dec. 7
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Children’s Zoo said it must cancel its Zoo Lights event from Nov. 27 - Dec. 7 to abide by the local Directed Health Measure.
Zoo President John Chapo said they worked with the Health Department and proposed a new modified operating plan which allowed for 25 people every 15 minutes for daily operations. The daily operations plan was approved, but the Zoo Lights event was not.
Zoo Lights was originally scheduled to go until Dec. 30. The current DHM limiting gatherings goes until Dec. 7. The Health Department will re-evaluate the Zoo Lights event on December 7th. “We are hopeful that the event will continue at that time,” Chapo said.
The Zoo says payment will be refunded via the method of purchase within two weeks. “You do not need to take any action; your refund will automatically process. If you do not see a refund post to you account within two weeks, please email firstname.lastname@example.org so that we may review your account. We have temporarily suspended our ticket sales for future dates.”
"The health and safety of our community remains our utmost concern and we will continue to work in cooperation with the Health Department in the coming weeks. We will provide an update regarding the future of Zoo Lights Powered by LES as new information is provided from the Lancaster County Health Department.
We thank you for your continued support of Lincoln Children’s Zoo."
