LPD officers arrest man for 5th DUI during St. Patrick’s Day enforcement
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Officers with the Lincoln Police Department arrested a man on St. Patrick’s Day for his 5th DUI offense.
On Wednesday, LPD conducted a special detail as a way to reduce car crashes, DUIs and deter over-serving at restaurants and bars.
Officers also conducted a special traffic enforcement detail where 12 drivers were arrested for DUI.
LPD said in one incident, officers stopped a driver near 27th and Y Streets, around 9:53 p.m., for swerving across a number of lane lines.
According to police, after contacting the driver, identified as 34-year-old Dupree Reed, they saw multiple signs of possible alcohol intoxication.
Officers placed Reed in custody and learned that his driver’s license had been suspended for 15 years as a result of a 4th DUI offense and the license was not eligible for reinstatement until 2033.
LPD said officers arrested Reed and he is facing his 5th DUI offense, driving while license revoked due to DUI, refusal to submit to a chemical test and careless driving charges.
According to police, Reed submitted to a breath test, however he provided an incomplete breath sample where his highest result was 0.242, three times the legal limit which is 0.08.
