LPD arrests woman following gunshots call Friday night
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Officers with the Lincoln Police Department say a woman is in jail following a gunshots call from Friday night in the northwest part of the city.
Officers were originally called out to the area of W Treehaven Drive & NW Nutwood Court in the Contempo Mobile Home Park on a report of a disturbance. Officers said there was a family dispute there was no probable cause for arrest or citations.
LPD said minutes after they had left, they were called back to the same area on a reports of gunshots heard.
Officers said a 26-year-old man explained that after police left, a woman later identified as Obiomachuckuka Njokanma, left her home with a .223 rifle, then fired two shots in air and fired two to four shots at victim’s feet.
According to police, the victim fled to his home with no injuries.
After investigating, LPD said they found several shell casings and later a firearm tied to the shooting and a magazine containing 21 .223 rounds, as well as .223 casings outside the home.
LPD said officers learned that Njokanma was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to felony convictions.
Njokanma was arrested and is facing discharge of a firearm at a person charges, use of a weapon to commit a felony and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
