Stop in for a snack at Fill My Cup
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Genoa business offers great food and gourmet coffee, but the owner says she’s in business to help support people as well.
We caught up with owner Mary McQuinn at her business called “Fill My Cup” on main street in Genoa. “This business is a coffee shop, and we also do lunches and suppers,” McQuinn said. “It also has a mission to give back to the community. Whenever we can, we try to help the community out with finances. Sometimes the money goes to the school, or to school groups. Sometimes the money goes to someone in need. We donate to whatever we can.”
McQuinn says she cooks and bakes. “We are sort of a soup, sandwich and salad place,” McQuinn said. “We are known for our soups. Everything is homemade. We do make a lot of baked goods like cinnamon rolls, pies and cookies. We also do coffees, specialty drinks, chai teas, and smoothies. For supper, we do Indian tacos, and every other Monday we do pan-fried chicken with all of the fixings.”
“We are here not only to fill your stomach, but to fill your soul,” McQuinn said. “We have people that will actually come in and ask for prayer.” McQuinn initially was not the owner of the business. She worked part-time at the business that was in another location. She says the original owners decided to sell it, and she wanted to keep it going. So, in February of 2015, she opened the business at its current location. It’s a place for people to gather and find some tranquility. “People know that if they have problems, we are always here to lend an ear,” McQuinn said. “We are on Facebook, you can always check out our hours and specials there.”
Genoa has much to offer. After a tour of the former U.S. Indian School, and a visit to the Genoa museum, you’ll want to end the afternoon with some refreshment at Fill My Cup.
