LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Cade Povich will be on the mound for the Huskers this Friday, which is nothing out-of-the-ordinary for the Big Ten champs. On June 4th, though, Povich will be pitching in an NCAA Tournament game for the first time.

Nebraska plans to start their reliable lefty when the Huskers (31-12) open the NCAA Fayetteville Regional at 7:00 p.m. against Northeastern.

“We’ve done one thing all year,” Will Bolt said. “I would imagine we would do too much different this weekend.”

Povich earned All-Big Ten First Team honors after compiling a 6-1 record with a 2.82 ERA. The junior from Bellevue has struck out 79 batters this season.

Nebraska’s opponent, Northeastern, will also start an all-conference pitcher. Cam Schlittler is the CAA’s Co-Rookie of the Year with a perfect 8-0 record.
