Police arrest two for stealing checkbook, trying to pass bad check

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A 54-year-old man was ticketed and a 21-year-woman was arrested after a stolen checkbook was used to write a nearly $1,900 check.

LPD said on May 26, a man called about his checkbook being stolen from the area of 26th and D streets.

Later that day, LPD was contacted after a Wells Fargo teller at the 27th and Highway 2 location about a suspicious check.

The teller told police the vehicle left after the driver tried to cash a check for $1,842.23, but left behind an ID and debit card.

Karina Schroeder, 21, was arrested for second degree forgery for trying to cash the check.

On June 8, a 54-year-old man was ticketed and released for stealing the checkbook. He was seen on video taking it from the 26th and D streets.
